While working as an event coordinator for a non-profit in Atlanta that promoted electric wheelchair soccer in 2006, Kim met her now-husband, coach of the Portuguese national team. They collaborated at an event that culminated in the creation of the International Powerchair Football Federation (FIPFA) and then went their separate ways. Reuniting at the first powerchair football world cup in Japan in 2007, they decided to give long-distance dating a try, then married in Atlanta 3 years later and started their life together in Portugal shortly after. Currently living in Coimbra, Portugal, Kim has 2 daughters who teach her lots about patience and grace every day, and appreciates her flexible work schedule that allows her to participate in their activities. Treasure hunting occupies part of her free time, as her love of storytelling frequently takes her to flea markets to add to her antique and vintage collections. She also loves singing in a choir, exploring in nature, and traveling to experience new cultures with her family!

~ I believe that everyone has value, and recognizing value in others is critical to working as a team and maintaining life-giving relationships.

~ I believe in celebrating… just about everything! Opting for a grateful attitude has the potential to reframe any situation, offering new perspectives that foster growth.

I believe in not being afraid to ask questions, for curiosity is the catalyst for growth and understanding.

I believe in being sincere and genuine, and that honesty is always the best policy. Trust is built through transparent communication, reliability, and the courage to be authentic even when it's difficult.

I believe in second, third, and fourth chances, in work, life, and relationships. Failure is a comma, not a period.

I believe that community is one of our most valuable resources, and contributing to it is essential to creating a sense of belonging, mutual support, and shared purpose.

I believe that we always have something new to learn, be it a skill, a lesson, or a story that reshapes how we see ourselves and others.
