THE LPI® COACH

TRAINING WORKSHOP

LPI Coach Training offers an in-depth exploration of the Leadership Practices Inventory® (LPI), the cornerstone of the powerful evidence-based leadership development program that James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner created. In this one-day training, attendees will learn about the evidence behind and development of the instrument, become familiar with the intricacies of the LPI reports, and understand how to effectively help leaders make sense of their feedback in both group settings and one-on-one coaching opportunities.

  • Becoming the Best Learner

Talented leaders are not born but develop over time with practice and work; experts become the best because they possess the desire to excel, believe they can, and are willing to practice their skills and abilities.

What differentiates the expert performers from the good performers is diligence and deliberate practice. Exemplary leaders don’t rest on their laurels or rely on their natural talents; instead, they continually do more to improve themselves. The best leaders work to become the best over time. Those who are the best at leading are also the best at learning. To be the best you can be, you need to become a great learner.

  • Data & Patterns

Any data from the LPI or another source is only numbers or words until you can make sense of it. For instance, when you look at an impressionist painting from a few inches away, it’s not much more than colored dots; when you stand back, a pattern appears. In the same way, stand back from your data and see what emerges. What patterns do you see? What messages does that data give you?

  • Increase Your Competencies

Participants are guided through the practiced coaching skills required to optimize the use of the LPI within a variety of leadership development situations. The LPICT helps coaches increase their competency in using, delivering, and debriefing the LPI. This training also helps to increase the individual’s knowledge and understanding of the statistical credibility of the instrument. Upon completion of LPICT, participants will have developed a deeper understanding of the different ways to leverage the LPI reports to support aspiring leaders as they plan for their future development and affect positive change.

Successful completion of this training allows participants to coach others and craft individualized leadership development plans using LPI results. Every trained coach receives a certificate of completion as a Trained Coach of the LPI, which bolsters your credibility and expert status.
